ACNE AND ROSACEA TREATMENT WITH INTENSE PULSED LIGHT – IPL LUMENIS M22
The acne therapy with intense pulsed light (IPL) complements standard acne therapy treatment procedures, such as the local or peroral treatment. IPL has antibacterial effects consisting in the reduction of the number of acne bacteria. It at the same time reduces the number of capillary vessels and thereby also the inflammation intensity, whereby it accelerates healing of already existing inflammatory lesions and prevents the formation of new ones. IPL uses the selective photothermolysis principle, which means that light energy is transformed into thermal energy which is subsequently collected in melanin, haemoglobin und collagen, without damaging the skin surface. Through its effect on the melanin pigment, it is disintegrated and postinflammatory pigmentations are subsequently reduced. The collagen overheating by pulsed light leads to neocollagenesis, whereby acne scars are prevented. It at the same has anti-inflammatory effects, reduces the sebum formation and the size of pores.
BASIC INFORMATION:
- The procedure is non-invasive, slightly painful; the impulses can be compared to “stings by a rubber band”.
- It is recommended to undergo the treatment in 3 – 4 sessions in monthly intervals.
- Since it is not followed by any significant changes, the client may thereafter apply make-up and go back to school or work.
- The procedure is performed during a non-sunny period, while the given locality must not be exposed to UV radiation one month before and one month after the surgery; SPF 50+ photoreaction is recommended after the procedure.
