REMOVAL OF WRINKLES BY BOTOX

Botulinum toxin has been used in the aesthetic medicine to correct mimic wrinkles already since 1990, while it generally belongs among the safest and most effective aesthetic dermatology procedures. Botulinum toxin is a product of Clostridium botulinum bacteria. For the application, only its minimum dose is used, being 1000 times smaller than a dose which is toxic for human body; this is why this method is very safe. Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the transmission of nerve impulses from nerve endings to mimic muscles in the applied area, whereby it suppresses the mimic muscle activity, which contributes to the smoothing out of mimic wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is used to remove especially dynamic wrinkles caused by excessive expressions, e.g. anger wrinkles between eyebrows, wrinkles around eyes, on the forehead, on the nasal root or around the mouth. It is also used to correct drooping corners of the mouth and can be used to narrow the face in the area of jaw angles in the case of robust masseters. By smoothing out the wrinkles, facial features become softer, the face looks younger and fresher.

BASIC INFORMATION:

• Botulinum toxin is applied intradermally into a mimic muscle by an ultrathin needle; the procedure is painless.
• Minor redness and swelling following the incisions will disappear within 1-2 hours after the application; sporadically, small bruises may occur at the application site, which will be absorbed within several days.
• Do not lie down or bend forward for 4 hours after the application;  practice mimicry; avoid physical activity for 3 days.
• Do not go to a tanning salon, sauna, cosmetics and facial massage for 2 weeks after the application.
• It starts to be effective within 3 days and becomes fully effective within 2 weeks after the application.
• The efficacy period is 3 – 4 months, as it concerns a temporary blockage of the function of mimic muscles; after repeated applications, the effect is usually longer.
• The procedure can be performed throughout the year.
