CRYOTHERAPY – LIQUID NITROGEN

Cryotherapy – cold therapy – is used to treat various skin diseases. Liquid nitrogen is most frequently used to remove virus warts or some other skin protuberances, when it is applied to the affected area where the focus is subsequently frozen. The cold therapy effect depends on the application duration and the pressure under which it is applied. The treatment is followed by swelling and redness, which may be followed by the formation of a small blister. A small scab is formed at the affected place, which falls off within 1 – 2 weeks. Cryotherapy is also used during the treatment of rosacea, perioral dermatitis or acne.
